The Sindhi American Political Action Committee (SAPAC) is honored to welcome Congressman David Trone (D-MD-06) to the Congressional Sindh Caucus. The congressman has been serving Maryland’s 6th district since 2018, during which he has fought to make progress on issues including the opioid epidemic, criminal justice reform and funding for mental health research. Congressman Trone is part of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where he sits as Vice-Chair to the subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and International Terrorism. We humbly thank Representative Trone for bringing his expertise to the Sindh Caucus as well as committing to defend the Sindhi community and the issues affecting them.
The Sindh Caucus is a bipartisan assembly in the US Congress that was founded by the current chair, Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA). Through joining the Sindh Caucus, representatives are exposed to the rich heritage, culture, and values of the Sindhi people. The caucus provides a space in which representative may better understand the human rights violations occurring to the Sindhi community in Sindh, Pakistan such as forced conversions, enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, amongst many others. By joining the Sindh Caucus, U.S. Representatives are able to raise greater awareness against these human rights abuses endured by the Sindhi people.
