We at the Sindhi American Political Action Committee (SAPAC) are excited to announce that the honorable Congressman André Carson has joined the Congressional Sindh Caucus. Representative Carson has diligently served the people of the Seventh District, which includes Indianapolis and surrounding areas, since his election in 2008. During his time in office, Carson has sat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), which he currently sits on, and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. During his time on HPSCI and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Representative Carson also served the people by serving on multiple subcommittees: The Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counterproliferation Subcommittee; The Strategic Technologies and Advanced Research Subcommittee; The Subcommittee on Aviation; and The Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials. Congressman Carson is a rising power in the House of Representative, as he is now the Senior Whip for the House Democratic Caucus. Congressman Carson’s extensive experience and commitment to human and civil rights will certainly benefit the Sindh Caucus and the Sindhi community as a whole.
The Sindh Caucus is a bipartisan caucus in the US Congress that was founded by the current chair, Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA). Members of the Caucus are deeply concerned about the problems facing the Sindhi people. Sindhis experience a range of human rights violations, including forced conversions, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings. By joining the caucus, Congressman Carson will be able to better understand and zealously advocate for the preservation of Sindhi heritage, culture, and values.
